Biodynamics and Ecology.
Biodynamics is a crop cultivation system developed in 1924 by an Australian philosopher and scientist called Rudolf Steiner.
"The estate or the vineyard is a living and self-sufficient ecosystem in which the harmony among the animal, vegetal and mineral kingdoms prevails"
Luigi Bosca have adopted some of the most beneficial principles attributed to this cultivation system, aiming to improve the natural self-defence mechanism of their vines against their environment.
Under this philosophy, they are observing lunar cycles for some varieties, such as malbec. The maturation point is then coincided with these cycles. The vine would have been planted on a waning moon in order for the roots to be stronger and it would be harvested on a full moon, to improve the fruit.
The promotion of Biodiversity is another of the biodynamical keys that they follow at Luigi Bosca. This philosophy seeks to ensure that the vines co-exist and can be harnessed by other species in the natural state. The vineyards have olive trees and chestnut trees in the search for the possibility of greater natural quality in their wines.
