Both vineyards are in traditional wine growing regions in the south of Uruguay, very close to the Atlantic Ocean which moderates the summer temperatures - rarely exceeding 34°C. Both vineyards proactively encourage biodiversity with the natural presence of varied grasses and flowers.
At Las Violetas vineyard 4 hectares (of the total 12 ha) are planted with low yielding vines between 16 and 30 years old.
Melilla vineyard is next to the winery, which was originally built in 1942 by Numa Pesquera following the model of a French chateaux. In 2002 the family restored the building and have blended traditional wine making methods with investment in the necessary technology to ensure the best modern vinification practices. The family are dedicated to minimal intervention in each and every process in order to get maximum expression of the fruit in their wines.
