Currently Chile's most Northerly wine estate, 300 miles north of Santiago.
The Viña Falernia vineyards are located in different sites of the Elqui Valley, with very different climate conditions.
Titón vineyard lies at an altitude of 350m, 11 miles from the Pacific Ocean. Temperature is not hot and there is often a fog during the night . This location is ideal for Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc, Semillon, Syrah and Pinot Noir. The second site is close to the winery at the end of Puclaro lake (an artificial lake built four years ago for to support the irrigation in the valley) at 510 m. Climate is dryer than Titón, no fog and a good location for Syrah and Pedro Jimenez.
At an altitude 600m, the third vineyard is Pedregal that includes 40 hectares on the old river bed of the Elqui River. Soil is very different from the other vineyards. Carmenere, Cabernet Sauvignon and Syrah are grown here. Huanta is the fourth site - an old vineyard in a spectacular rocky valley at an altitude between 1700 and 2070m - one of the highest vineyards in the world. Pinot Noir, Pedro Jimenez and Syrah and are grown here.
