Leads the move back to the idea of the traditional, small family winery in Argentina.
Finca La Anita was born in the early nineties, out of an obsessive idea: the recreation of the traditional European model for the production of high quality wine, on an old wine estate, located in the best grape-growing area in Argentina.
That meant the finca (winery) adopting the whole process of grape-growing, harvesting and wine making in all its stages.
This idea of traditional small family wineries was not new, but they had largely disappeared when most of the wine industry chose to go for mass production.
The focus was on large quantities rather than on the excellent quality wines which Mendoza could have produced.
Antonio Mas says
"We make our wines only from our own grapes, and only when our vintages reach levels of quality that satisfy our standards. All wines are made on our estate, on a small production scale" "It is our earnest wish that every varietal, every vintage of our wines may be identified distinctively by our friends on tasting them, as each one conveys the unique combination afforded it by each year's pattern of growing conditions and personalised wine making procedures. Every year has its history captured in our wines."Finca La Anita
