Chile's closest vineyard to the Pacific Ocean
Laurel Vineyard is located on a hillside slope with a north-eastern exposure, 2.5 miles from the ocean planted with Sauvignon Blanc
A very windy area made up of poor clay soil that had never been cultivated prior to Casa Marin plantation. Only native shrubs and vegetation were to be found. Drip irrigation is used for the vineyard.
Morning fog from the ocean during the winter and autumn lasts until midday
Cipreses Vineyard is located at the very top of a hillside slope overlooking the towns of Lo Abarca and Lo Zarate, with both a northern and southern exposure. Part of the vineyard faces the ocean and is again planted with Sauvignon Blanc.
It is an extremely windy area, conditions that act as a natural restraining agent on grape yield. The results are very weak vines and low productivity. Drip irrigation is again necessary.
Casona Vineyard is located in a flat plot of land in the outskirts of the town of Lo Abarca. The soil is very dark and fertile and is made up of very heavy clay. Winters are very cold, and frost, as well as early morning fog, are prevalent during winter and spring. The vineyard has a northern and southern exposure and is planted with Gewürztraminer.
Estero Vineyard is located on a hillside slope overlooking the brook (“estero”) after which it is named. It has a southern exposure with very poor soil. Soil composition in the upper half of the hillside slope is mostly made up of clay, while the lower half, closer to the “estero,” is mostly made up of sand. Sauvignon Gris vines are lined up from North to South on a very steep hillside slope .
Lo Abarca Hills vineyard plantation is located on a gentle hillside slope that surrounds the town of Lo Abarca and has a western aspect facing the ocean. The climate is quite windy which affects grape yield of the Pinot Noir planted here.
