Bodegas Pisano

Keeping winemaking as natural as possible

bodegas pisano

The Family Vineyards are close to the Río de la Plata (River Plate), 15 miles north of Montevideo, on a latitude of 34º, influenced by the sunny and cool Atlantic climate.

The 15 hectares are tended and harvested by hand, with a focus on low yields to better ensure the resulting wines truly reflect the character of the vineyard and the land at Pisano.

The cellar equipment reflects a philosophy of simplicity. Pisano believe in keeping winemaking as natural as possible with minimal intervention.

Wines are normally fermented in 10,000 litre concrete tanks with cold water refrigeration running through stainless steel spiral hoses to cool the must- this helps to keep the important floral and fruity aromas of the grapes.

Pisano believe in judicious use of new oak, just enough to complement natural character of each grape and being careful not to mask the delicate fruit aromas and flavours our terroir produces.

Filling and corking of the bottles is done manually with small machines and after a minimum of 6 months ageing in bottle, labelling and packing are also done by hand.

The Pisano Family produces only 200,000 fine hand-crafted bottles a year
