Familia Schroeder

San Patricio del Chañar, a new winemaking area in the Argentine Patagonia, is home to unparalleled conditions that make it particularly fit for growing grape varieties aimed at the production of high-standard wine. Light stony soils, generous streams of quality meltwater, intense sunlight and a temperature difference ranging from hot days to freezing nights all contribute to the quality.

The Schroeders are a European family deeply rooted in Patagonia, opening the winery in October 2002 and now producing exquisite wines that are truly representative of the best wines from Patagonia. All Schroeder wines are hand harvested.

During the soil movement that preceded the winery's construction the remains of a Titanosaur were discovered - a dinosaur that roamed the area millions of years ago, and one of the largest species ever known. This discovery was important enough to deserve a special cellar, built to exhibit the original fossils, and served as an inspiration for the name of the SAURUS line.
